As I switch content over from my old blog to here, I am reminded of some of my old posts. This one is particularly important and felt it needed to be shared again. This is my own story and message.
This post comes about after my midnight cleaning spree of my office last night/this morning. We are in the age of CD’s, flash drives and instagram. All our images are instant and posted online in seconds. We all have images locked on hard drives, disks and cell phones that the next generation will never get to touch, hold and maybe never get to see.
Last night, I found one of those things that slapped me in the face and made me stop. A floppy disk! My oldest son was born August 2000 and his baby images are on this disk…
A lot has happened in my life since then. I have moved several times, remarried and even had 2 more kids. Yet, I keep all the disks of pictures I have had done over the past decade. This one floppy disk made me think though…where will all these CDs, DVDs and USB's of images be in 10 years. Will my clients have prints? What happens when they get a computer virus or worse…
Few things stand the test of time like prints. They tell a story, capture a moment and help relive memories.
Please, I urge all of you to take the time to preserve all those memories you took the time and money to capture. We all want our next generation(s) to be able to enjoy them too.
